The Dallas Police Department said in a statement that an arrest warrant has been issued for Buffalo Bills linebacker Von Miller, who has been accused of assaulting a pregnant woman. A police spokesperson said that the arrest warrant is active, and Miller is not currently in custody. Assault against a pregnant person is a third-degree felony in Texas, with punishments including up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.

Dallas police responded to what it said was “a major disturbance call” on Wednesday around 11 a.m. local time. A preliminary investigation determined Miller and the woman had a verbal argument and that Miller allegedly assaulted her. According to police, Miller left the scene before officers arrived and that the woman was treated for minor injuries and not hospitalized.

The Bills said in a statement: “This morning, we were made aware of an incident involving Von Miller. We are in the process of gathering more information and will have no further comment at this point.”

Miller, 34, is originally from DeSoto, Texas. He totaled two tackles through eight games this season for the Bills.  The eight-time Pro Bowl selection, three-time All-Pro, two-time Super Bowl Champion (with the Denver Broncos and the Los Angeles Rams) and Super Bowl MVP totaled 123.5 sacks, 563 combined tackles, 27 forced fumbles, 24 passes defensed, nine fumble recoveries, two interceptions and two touchdowns through 179 career appearances.
